The wife of Ogun State Governor and Founder of the Ajose Foundation, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has awarded scholarships to 50 indigent students across the state in collaboration with Dufil Prima Foods Plc.
The event, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, aimed to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while motivating students to pursue their education with dedication. Mrs. Abiodun urged parents to monitor their children’s academic progress closely.
“This gesture is for parents who genuinely want their wards to be educated. We hope they will supervise their children well, while beneficiaries must continue to uphold academic excellence,” she said.
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the beneficiaries, urging them to strive for excellence and calling on parents to remain actively involved in their children’s education and moral development.
Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), praised the initiative as a tool for personal and national development, acknowledging the consistent support of Mrs. Abiodun and Dufil Prima Foods for indigent students.
Apostle ’Biodun Sanyaolu, Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), described the scholarship as a worthy investment in the state’s future and encouraged teachers to redouble their efforts in nurturing students.
Representing Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Temitope Asiwaju stated that the scholarships form part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, adding that the firm also plans to equip secondary school laboratories to support science education.
Beneficiaries David Elijah from Ijebu-Mushin College, Ijebu North Local Government, and Ifaseke Odutola from Illisan High School, Ikenne Local Government, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and Dufil Prima Foods, pledging to remain focused on their studies and serve as good ambassadors of the state.
