The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the transfer of popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Portable, who earlier surrendered himself to the Lagos State Police Criminal Investigation Department, was handed over to the Ogun police for further investigation. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed his arrival in a statement issued in Abeokuta.
“We wish to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025,” Odutola stated.
The singer was declared wanted by the police following an alleged attack on three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The incident reportedly occurred on February 5, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. at Odogwu Bar in the Sango area of the state.
According to police reports, officials from the Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota when they encountered Portable’s father at the bar, which is linked to the singer.
Upon requesting the building’s approved plan, the officials were informed that Portable was unavailable. However, moments later, the musician allegedly led a group of nine armed thugs in a violent attack on the officials. The victims sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, prompting an escalation to the SCID.
“Nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding. Multiple formal invitations were sent to him, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, which he deliberately ignored,” the police statement read.
Following his evasion, authorities obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted. The Ogun State Police Command urged the public to provide any relevant information that could aid his arrest, warning that anyone found harboring or assisting the suspect would face legal consequences.
The police assured that due process would be followed in handling the case and advised the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
