Osita Chidoka Urges INEC to Implement Electronic Collation System for BVAS

Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to implement an electronic collation system for the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to upload results directly. Chidoka argued that such a system would eliminate vote manipulation and reduce the instances of votes exceeding the number of accredited voters, as seen in the last governorship election in Imo State.

In an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain suggested that INEC should adopt the BVAS electronic collation system in the upcoming Edo governorship election in September. He explained that this approach would correct arithmetic errors and ensure that the uploaded results reflect the actual votes accredited by BVAS.

Chidoka also recommended that INEC upload ward collation results and utilize BVAS for online collation before manually copying the data. He believes that if this method is implemented in the Edo and Ondo governorship elections, it will significantly improve the electoral process.
