Polaris Bank has launched the Adopt a Survivor Breast Cancer Support Initiative, a social impact programme designed to help breast cancer survivors rebuild their lives and livelihoods after treatment.
While October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bank said it is extending its focus beyond awareness to the recovery phase, where many survivors face challenges regaining economic stability.
The initiative provides verified survivors with livelihood support, enabling them to restart small businesses and return to income-generating activities with dignity.
Delivering the message of Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kayode Lawal, at the office of the Bank’s NGO partner, C.O.P.E Foundation, in Lagos last Thursday, the Head of Brand Management & Corporate Communication, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, said the programme underscores Polaris Bank’s commitment to translating business success into social good.
“At Polaris Bank, we believe true impact happens when corporate growth translates into empowerment for people. The ‘Adopt a Survivor’ initiative allows us to stand with women—not just in the fight against breast cancer, but in rebuilding their confidence and independence,” Bolarinwa said.
He noted that the programme aligns with the Bank’s core CSR pillars of health, women empowerment, and community wellbeing, while also advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that promote wellness and economic inclusion.
This year’s intervention builds on Polaris Bank’s earlier efforts focused on survivor wellness, including retreats and capacity-building initiatives for women who have overcome breast cancer.
Through the Adopt a Survivor initiative, Polaris Bank reaffirmed its role as a partner in helping women live fulfilling, empowered lives beyond treatment.
