As part of its commitment to empowering the Nigerian media and reinforcing its role as society’s watchdog, Polaris Bank is organizing an open workshop for journalists across the media spectrum. This initiative, a key part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is designed to enhance the skills of media professionals and positively impact key stakeholders.
The 2024 media workshop, themed “Integrating AI Tools in Contemporary Media Practices for Innovation and Excellence,” is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th, 2024. This event falls under Polaris Bank’s Education and Capacity Building CSR pillar, which focuses on deepening media relations and fostering the development of Nigeria’s media landscape.
Participants will be equipped with the latest artificial intelligence (AI) tools and techniques to navigate the evolving challenges of modern journalism. The workshop will explore how AI can streamline news gathering, enhance storytelling accuracy, and drive innovation. Topics will include data journalism, fact-checking, solutions journalism, and media entrepreneurship, ensuring that journalists stay ahead in a competitive digital era.
Building on the success of the 2023 edition, which saw hundreds of journalists in attendance, this year’s event promises to offer even greater value. Participants will benefit from insights on cutting-edge trends, career development strategies, and new media tools.
Polaris Bank has enlisted top experts as facilitators for the workshop, including Dr. Chike Mgbeadichie, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, and Lekan Otufodunrin, Executive Director of the Media Career Development Network. Their expertise will guide participants in adapting to technological advancements while maintaining responsible journalism practices.
