At the recent Annual Youth Convention, Senior Evangelist Prof. S. O. Odeyemi, 93, delivered a powerful message to the younger generation, urging them to discover their true identity in Christ. Drawing from decades of experience and spiritual wisdom, Prof. Odeyemi offered invaluable guidance to the youth at the convention camp.
“Your identity in God is your timeless treasure,” he declared, emphasizing the importance of recognizing one’s divine purpose. “God has chosen you to spread messages of hope, knowledge, and inspiration to the world.”
He warned against straying from God’s will, noting that true connection with God requires alignment with His guidance. “Choosing the wrong path to solve a problem can blind you from seeing the light of God,” Prof. Odeyemi cautioned. “When problems arise, turn to Jesus, not to Satan. Seeking solutions from Satan blocks your access to God. Trust in Jesus Christ to overcome any challenge.”
Prof. Odeyemi underscored the essential role of scripture, encouraging the youth to immerse themselves in the Word of God. “The Word of God is essential for every believer. We all need to learn and understand it.”
Reflecting on the divine purpose behind all creation, he explained that every creature, no matter its role, was made with intent by God. He illustrated this with the example of the antelope, destined to be prey for larger animals, yet created with a purpose significant in God’s grand design.
Shifting focus to the Celestial Church of Christ, Prof. Odeyemi spoke of the church’s unique mandate. “God descended the Celestial Church of Christ for a particular purpose,” he stated. “He equipped the Church with everything it needs to fulfill its mission, and it is our duty to pass this mandate to the next generation.”
Quoting Deuteronomy 6:6-9, he emphasized the importance of teaching God’s commandments to future generations, ensuring the church’s mission continues to thrive.
In a poignant reflection, Prof. Odeyemi recalled a prophecy he heard years ago in Finland, predicting that Christianity, initially brought to Africa from Europe, would one day return to Europe, revitalized by Africa’s spiritual strength. He urged the youth to embrace their spiritual heritage, highlighting Africa’s potential to impact the world through deep spirituality.
