Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III, will resume her public duties on Tuesday, following a brief absence due to a chest infection, a royal source confirmed. Camilla, 77, will appear at the Booker Prize reception to meet this year’s finalists, although her participation will be shorter than initially planned.
This marks her first public engagement since returning from Australia and Samoa, where she joined King Charles for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting before falling ill. On Wednesday, Camilla is also scheduled to attend an event celebrating the film and television industry, though she is expected to leave before the full conclusion.
Additionally, Camilla will not be attending the global premiere of “Gladiator II” in Leicester Square that same evening, where she was originally set to meet director Ridley Scott and stars Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington. King Charles, who will turn 76 on Thursday, is still scheduled to attend.
Camilla’s recent illness led her to miss Remembrance Day commemorations, including a concert at the Royal Albert Hall and the annual ceremony at the Cenotaph war memorial in London. In her absence, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, represented the royal family at these events, continuing to recover after a previous cancer diagnosis.
Meanwhile, King Charles remains under treatment for his own cancer diagnosis, which Buckingham Palace publicly announced earlier in February.
