Real Madrid’s Camavinga to Miss Season Start Due to Knee Injury

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is set to miss the beginning of the season after the club confirmed on Wednesday that he has sustained a knee ligament sprain.

The Spanish giants revealed in an official statement that Camavinga suffered the injury during a training session on Tuesday, following a slip and collision with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni. Medical tests conducted on Wednesday diagnosed the France international with a ligament sprain in his left knee.

According to reports from Spain, the 20-year-old could be sidelined for up to seven weeks, potentially ruling him out of Madrid’s opening matches in the Champions League in September and October.

The timing of Camavinga’s injury is particularly concerning for Real Madrid, who are already dealing with the retirement of veteran midfielder Toni Kroos earlier this summer. The injury leaves the reigning Spanish and European champions with a depleted midfield as they prepare for the new season.

Real Madrid is set to face Europa League winners Atalanta on Wednesday in the European Super Cup, followed by their La Liga opener against Real Mallorca on Sunday.

In related news, Camavinga’s compatriot Kylian Mbappé is expected to make his highly anticipated debut for Madrid against Atalanta in Warsaw.
