Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced a ₦1 billion donation through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to support families displaced by a deadly attack in Benue State.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during her condolence visit to the Benue State Government House in Makurdi, following the June assault on Yelewata community that claimed over 100 lives.
“On behalf of the governing council of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI will be making a donation of ₦1 billion to help displaced families get back on their feet, return to earning a living, and have a better life,” she said.
The First Lady expressed sorrow over the violence and emphasized the importance of national unity and support during such difficult times. She called for collective action and compassion, especially for vulnerable communities affected by insecurity.
North Will Back Tinubu in 2027, Says Gombe Governor
Kaduna, Nigeria – Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, has pledged northern Nigeria’s continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing tangible gains in infrastructure, agriculture, power, and security.
Yahaya made the remarks at a two-day conference in Kaduna organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation to evaluate the administration’s performance and engagement with the northern region.
The event drew top government officials, including Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, SGF Senator George Akume, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, service chiefs, and northern stakeholders.
NSA Ribadu highlighted significant security improvements, noting a drastic reduction in Boko Haram attacks and banditry across the region. He revealed that over 11,000 hostages had been rescued from captivity as of May 2025.
The NSA also commended Kaduna State for deploying non-kinetic approaches to address communal violence in conflict-prone areas.
