The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have commended Rite Foods Limited for its adherence to safe manufacturing practices and its commitment to delivering high-quality products that reinforce consumer confidence.

The commendation was given at a stakeholder forum marking World Consumer Rights Day, themed “Safe Product, Confident Consumers,” organised by the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) and hosted at the company’s production facility in Ososa, Ogun State.

The event brought together regulators, consumer advocates, and media professionals to deliberate on product safety, responsible manufacturing, and consumer awareness as critical drivers of accountability in the marketplace.

Speaking at the forum, FCCPC’s South-West Zonal Coordinator, Olubunmi Dorcas Otti, representing Executive Vice Chairman Tunji Bello, said Rite Foods had demonstrated a strong commitment to consumer protection through transparency and strict adherence to production standards.

She noted that opening its facility to stakeholders underscores the company’s confidence in its operations and enhances collaboration among regulators, industry players, and the media.

Also speaking, NAFDAC’s Deputy Director, Food Regulatory Directorate, Tinuola Akinnubi, who represented Director General Mojisola Adeyeye, emphasised that consumer rights—including safety, information, choice, redress, and the right to be heard—remain central to regulatory governance.

Delivering the keynote address, Sola Salako, President of the Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON), highlighted the role of technology in strengthening consumer protection. She introduced the CAFON Consumer Companion (3C) App, designed to help consumers understand and enforce their rights, while also supporting media verification and accountability efforts.

Salako commended Rite Foods for its openness, noting that allowing access to its production processes demonstrates confidence in product quality and operational standards.

In his remarks, BJAN Chairman Dan Obi described the company’s transparency as a strong signal of accountability. He said observations from the factory tour, including hygiene standards and automation, reinforce trust in the company’s products.

Earlier, General Manager, Operations at Rite Foods, Femi Ajileye, reiterated the company’s commitment to producing safe, high-quality food and beverage products using global best practices, supported by advanced technology and rigorous quality assurance systems.

Rite Foods stated that it will continue to prioritise transparency, stakeholder engagement, and consumer satisfaction as part of its broader contribution to strengthening trust in Nigeria’s food and beverage sector.
