Rite Foods Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability as it joined the global community in marking World Clean-Up Day, highlighting a series of initiatives aimed at combating plastic pollution and promoting community empowerment.
The company, known for its flagship programs such as Rite on the Beach and participation in the Plastic-Free July campaign, has cleared significant volumes of waste from Nigeria’s coastlines and urban centers while providing education and recycling opportunities.
Through Rite on the Beach, volunteers have removed thousands of kilograms of plastic from marine environments, helping to protect aquatic life and preserve natural habitats. In July, Rite Foods expanded its reach with the Plastic-Free July campaign in Lagos, conducted in collaboration with the Lagos State Government’s Office of Sustainable Development Goals. The campaign promoted responsible waste disposal through the distribution of reusable bags, staff-led waste sorting, and direct community engagement, resulting in the recovery of more than 40 tons of plastic in a single month.
“World Clean-Up Day is a reminder of our shared duty to protect the environment we all depend on,” said Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods.

By transforming recovered plastic into school bags, we provide underserved children with learning tools and hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
Rite Foods anchors its sustainability efforts on its EYEC framework – Education, Youth Empowerment, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Development – with a focus on circular economy practices that deliver both environmental protection and social benefits.
The company pledged to sustain momentum through expanded partnerships with environmental organizations, volunteers, and community groups, aiming to inspire collective action for a cleaner and greener Nigeria.
