Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his condolences to the President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), Maureen Chigbo, following the death of her elder sister, Barrister (Mrs.) Nwamaka Chigbo, an Abuja-based lawyer.
Mrs. Chigbo was reportedly killed by unidentified kidnappers in Abuja on January 5. Governor Sanwo-Olu described her death as a significant loss to her family, the legal profession, and Nigeria.
In a statement on Wednesday issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor sympathized with the deceased’s family, friends, clients, and associates. He also extended his condolences to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), the Global Association of Female Lawyers (GAFA), and the Catholic Lawyers Association, where she had been an active member and former president.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said: “It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I commiserate with Maureen Chigbo and her family on the passing of her elder sister. No doubt, the death of a loved one is a painful episode, but we must take solace in God for the good life she lived and the positive impact she made.”
He prayed that God would grant Mrs. Nwamaka Chigbo eternal rest and comfort her family, friends, colleagues, and associates.
