Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, on his landslide victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct during the election and for reaffirming their support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Lagos governor described Oyebanji’s victory across all 16 local government areas of the state, where he secured 83.54 per cent of the total votes cast, as a reflection of the governor’s popularity and the electorate’s confidence in the APC.
He urged Oyebanji to remain committed to delivering the dividends of democracy and sustaining the development strides recorded during his first term in office.
Sanwo-Olu, who served as a member of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti governorship election led by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, also praised President Bola Tinubu for providing leadership and advancing the administration’s socio-economic transformation agenda under the Renewed Hope programme.
The governor further commended APC leaders and members at the national, state, local government and ward levels for their unity and dedication, which he said contributed significantly to the party’s victory.
“I congratulate my dear brother, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, for emerging victorious in yesterday’s governorship election. I also congratulate his running mate, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, on her re-election,” Sanwo-Olu said.
According to him, Oyebanji’s overwhelming victory was a reward for his administration’s performance and commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people of Ekiti State.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their continued support for the APC, assuring them that the ruling party would continue to work in their interest and fulfil its promises.
