The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday participated in cooking and tasting seafood rice with stir-fry spinach at the 2025 Lagos Food Festival, themed “Taste Beyond Borders”, held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island.

Speaking at the event, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the festival aims to bring families together, showcase diverse cuisines, and tell the Lagos food story.

“The Lagos Food Festival is about families coming out, enjoying, encouraging people in the catering and food space, and using food to tell the Lagos story,” he said, noting that he also tasted his own cooking during the festival.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in empowering entrepreneurs over the past six years, supporting innovators in the food business, and promoting agriculture and food security initiatives.

Earlier, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, explained that the festival celebrates Lagos’ multicultural culinary culture, entertainment, and value chain actors. “It is an avenue to solidify our interventions over the years and celebrate everyone that makes it possible for all of us to eat in Lagos,” she said.

The festival featured live music, art exhibitions, and culinary displays. Governor Sanwo-Olu also attended an art exhibition where about 40 artists painted on walls, describing their work as “creativity of Lagos.”

The event drew members of the State Executive Council, House of Assembly, current and former public office holders, political and traditional leaders, celebrity chefs, youths, vendors, and students, many of whom showcased their culinary skills and won prizes.
