Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday inaugurated a grassroots mobilisation group, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, to engage residents across the state on the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The governor appointed 20 Local Government coordinators to drive the initiative at the community level, with his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, overseeing the activities of the coordinators across the state.
The initiative, according to the governor, is designed to promote awareness of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope agenda and communicate its programmes and accomplishments directly to citizens at the grassroots. The project operates within a national framework led by the Director-General and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The inauguration ceremony, held at 10 Degrees Event Centre in Oregun, Ikeja, drew key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), party executives, cabinet members, lawmakers, traditional rulers, traders’ associations and youth groups.
Sanwo-Olu said the initiative was conceived to ensure effective communication of the Federal Government’s reforms and achievements to residents in their local communities.
“This project is not a campaign,” the governor said. “It is about creating awareness of the successes recorded in the last three years. These ambassadors will go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood to communicate the President’s commitments and what has been delivered so far.”
He maintained that Tinubu’s economic and structural reforms had repositioned Nigeria globally, citing efforts to reduce the country’s debt burden, stabilise the foreign exchange market and improve workers’ welfare through a new minimum wage.
Sanwo-Olu also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, describing them as evidence of the President’s commitment to national development and connectivity.
Ayinde, in his remarks, stressed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors project was a movement focused on public engagement and sensitisation rather than a political campaign. He urged the coordinators to foster unity and serve as a bridge between government policies and citizens by disseminating information across markets, campuses and communities.
To support their operations, Sanwo-Olu presented 20 buses to the coordinators to facilitate grassroots engagement across the state.
