Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to unite and work towards the party’s victory in the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the appeal during an APC stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He emphasized the need for unity, urging all aggrieved party members and aspirants to set aside differences and rally behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the party’s candidate.
“We have come here as a united family. As members of the APC, we must strengthen the party and ensure that no one is left behind. Everyone is important in delivering electoral victory on November 16,” Sanwo-Olu said. He added that Ondo State holds significant importance for the progressives and that a united front is crucial to securing victory.
The meeting was attended by key APC figures, including Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), represented by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Talabi Olatokunbo. Also present were APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, and other party leaders.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, the South-West Coordinator of the APC, reiterated that the election would require a collective effort, stating, “What is ahead of us is greater than what is behind us. We must unite to win. More than 85 percent of the votes must go to APC.”
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, also appealed to party members, especially those who had contested the primaries, to come together and work as a team. “We are expecting 90 percent of the vote in this election. Mobilize voters in your units, and let’s deliver for APC in Ondo and across the South-West,” he urged.
Governor Oyebanji of Ekiti State echoed the call for unity, reminding party members of their responsibility to preserve the legacy of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. “We must keep Ondo State in the progressive fold. Coming second is not an option,” Oyebanji said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate, expressed gratitude for the support and urged party members to remain committed to the goal of moving Ondo forward. He called for unwavering backing to ensure APC’s victory.
Former APC gubernatorial aspirants, including Chief Olusola Oke, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, and Princess Oladunni Odu, pledged their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, affirming their commitment to working for the party’s success and preventing the opposition from taking over the state.
