The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment. Akpabio has denied the allegation through his media consultant, Kenny Okulogbo.
Akpoti-Uduaghan made the claim in an interview with Arise Television on Friday, alleging that Akpabio blocked her motions in the Senate after she rejected his advances.
“My issue with Akpabio started on December 8, 2023, when my husband and I attended a pre-birthday event at his residence in Uyo. He held my hand, led me to a sitting room, and said, ‘Now that you are a Senator, you will create time for us to spend quality time here,’” she recounted.
She also alleged that her motion on corrupt practices at Ajaokuta Steel Company was repeatedly blocked. “I approached him to ask why my motion kept being stepped down, and he said, ‘Natasha, I am the Chief Presiding officer of the Senate. You can enjoy a whole lot if you take care of me and make me happy.’”
Akpoti-Uduaghan further claimed that her Senate seat was mysteriously changed and that some senators warned her it was a trap.
Reacting to the allegations, Akpabio’s media aide, Kenny Okulogbo, dismissed them as “tissues of lies.” He claimed the Kogi lawmaker was upset over her removal as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content.
