As the November 8, 2025, governorship election draws near, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has called for unity, inclusivity, and active participation in the democratic process.
The governor made the appeal while addressing a large gathering of the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State at the International Convention Centre (ICC), where thousands of residents endorsed his bid for a second term.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude for the show of support, saying, “I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of sentiments received here.”
He urged Nigerians to uphold the principles of citizenship and shared responsibility, stressing that the line in the national anthem, “In brotherhood we stand,” should serve as a guiding philosophy for unity and coexistence. “We must not only say the words but live them out every day,” he said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, Soludo declared, “Once you live in Anambra, you are from Anambra and treated equally.” He cited his administration’s recruitment of 8,115 teachers from 18 different states within its first nine months as evidence of inclusive governance. “The best driver I’ve ever had is not from Anambra. The finest minds I’ve dealt with are from across the country. We are one,” he added.
The governor also highlighted key achievements of his administration, including free education in government-owned primary and secondary schools, as well as free antenatal care and delivery services for pregnant women across the state. “These services are for everybody, no matter where you are from,” he emphasized.
Calling for civic engagement ahead of the polls, Soludo urged residents to prepare to vote. “Wherever you live should be your home. It is the duty of every citizen to vote come November 8,” he said.
He praised the growing sense of public participation in his campaign, noting that many citizens have begun donating voluntarily. “This is the first time in Anambra where the people themselves have taken ownership of the campaign,” he remarked, urging continued collaboration to build a state that reflects collective values and aspirations.
Representatives from various communities, including Gidado Sadiki of the Fulani community and Moses Agbom from Ebonyi State, commended Soludo’s leadership and his efforts to promote unity and inclusivity. Delegates from Akwa Ibom, Igala, and other ethnic groups also expressed appreciation, describing the governor as a leader committed to fostering harmony and equitable representation across Anambra State.
