In a significant boost to education in Abia State, Stanbic IBTC has completed a comprehensive renovation of Ibeku High School in Umuahia, furthering its nationwide Adopt-A-School initiative.
The transformation, which has significantly improved learning conditions for 720 students and 52 teachers, underscores the financial institution’s commitment to modernizing educational facilities across Nigeria.
A key highlight of the renovation is a state-of-the-art computer laboratory, featuring 20 high-performance computer systems and 25 workstations, aimed at equipping students with essential digital skills.
Other key upgrades include the renovation of five classrooms, now furnished with modern desks and chairs to provide a more comfortable learning environment. Additionally, a newly constructed multipurpose hall will serve as a venue for assemblies, school events, and extracurricular activities.
Recognizing the importance of educators’ well-being, Stanbic IBTC also refurbished the guidance counsellor’s office and staffroom, ensuring a professional workspace for teachers.
The project also incorporates an environmental component, with the strategic planting of 100 trees to enhance the school’s landscape and provide much-needed shade.
Kunle Adedeji, Acting Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, reiterated the organization’s commitment to long-term educational development.
“The Adopt-A-School initiative remains central to our mission of fostering sustainable growth and development in Nigeria. Our goal is to create an environment where students can excel academically,” Adedeji stated.
The Ibeku High School renovation joins a growing list of successful school transformations completed by Stanbic IBTC across Nigeria, including similar projects in Ogun, Niger, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Sokoto, Borno, and Gombe states.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by prominent dignitaries and community leaders, emphasized the vital collaboration between the private sector and local communities in advancing education.
With this latest intervention, Stanbic IBTC continues to set a benchmark for corporate social responsibility in Nigeria’s education sector, reaffirming its dedication to empowering future generations through quality learning environments.
