MTN Nigeria has announced plans to host another watch party for Super Eagles fans in Lagos as attention shifts to Nigeria’s third-place match following the team’s semi-final exit from the tournament.
Hundreds of supporters gathered at Cubana, Lagos, on Wednesday night for the MTN-organised watch party to witness the Super Eagles’ semi-final encounter. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as fans, clad in Nigeria’s national colours, cheered every tackle, pass and attacking move.
The mood, however, turned sombre at the final whistle as Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the final were dashed. Many fans expressed disappointment over missed chances during the game, noting that a lack of clinical finishing proved costly at such a crucial stage of the competition.
Despite the setback, supporters were quick to acknowledge the team’s fighting spirit and improved organisation. Fans praised the players’ commitment and resilience, insisting that the performance reflected a team growing in confidence and discipline.
As emotions settled, conversations among supporters shifted from disappointment to optimism ahead of the third-place playoff. Many expressed confidence that the Super Eagles would regroup and end the tournament on a positive note.
