Taribo blasts Amaju Pinnick over ‘mushroom football clubs’ statement

Super Eagles legend Taribo West has criticised Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick for the comment regarding players tranfer to  in small European countries.
Pinnick, while addressing the home based Super Eagles before their friendly match against Mexico told the players, his administration won’t release players who want to leave the NPFL for what he termed ‘mushroom football clubs’ in Europe.
Pinnick statement was not well received by the media and he was strongly criticised for being disrespectful to the clubs and the players.
Reacting to the statement, Taribo said such comments from the head of Nigerian football is insensitive and embarrassing.
Taribo hinted the NFF boss should focused on improving the Nigeria professional football league and not trying to stop grown up men from earning a living.
“Instead of improving and focusing on developing the structures around the league, you’re dictating to adults where and how to earn a living.” He told BBC.
