Nigerian music superstar and award-winning singer, Tiwa Savage, has ignited social media discussions after disclosing that she would consider becoming a second wife. The Afrobeats icon made the revelation during a candid conversation on the American podcast Lip Service, which began trending across various platforms on Friday.
Speaking on the challenges of her dating life, the “Somebody’s Son” crooner noted that most of her potential suitors are either much older or already married.
“I’m like a sugar mama, but I don’t want to be,” she said. “If I meet someone who can really marry me, they’re either in their 50s or already married. So maybe I can be a second wife. I think so.”
The singer, who is also a mother of one, clarified that her openness to the idea is not out of desperation but a desire for peace of mind. She added that she values respect and harmony in relationships and would have no issue coexisting with a first wife.
“I think I can get along with the first wife, and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome,” she said. “I’ll be going on tours; I won’t stress you. I’m very respectful and would accord her that respect.”
Tiwa Savage was previously married to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TeeBillz. The couple tied the knot in 2013 and separated in 2018 following public controversies. They share a son together.
Her remarks have since sparked widespread debate online, with fans and commentators discussing societal expectations, relationship dynamics, and the pressures faced by women—particularly those in the public eye.
