Former U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a scathing address to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, sharply criticizing UN and European leaders for their handling of immigration, global conflicts, and climate policies.
In his hour-long speech, Trump accused the UN of “self-sabotage through lax borders and misguided green initiatives” and claimed that international bodies had failed to end ongoing conflicts around the world. He cited his own efforts to resolve conflicts in countries including Cambodia, Thailand, Kosovo, Serbia, the Congo, Rwanda, Pakistan, India, Israel, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, asserting that the UN had not attempted to intervene in any of these cases.
Trump also criticized European nations for their handling of migration, accusing them of allowing uncontrolled flows of illegal migrants due to political correctness. “Europe is in serious trouble. They’ve been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody’s ever seen before… nobody’s doing anything to change it,” he said.
On the war in Ukraine, Trump expressed disappointment over the ongoing conflict, claiming he had initially expected a quick resolution. “Everyone thought Russia would win this war in three days… they’ve been fighting for three and a half years,” he said.
Trump further condemned European nations and the UN over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly criticizing countries that have recognized a Palestinian state. He argued that such recognition would “reward Hamas for these horrible atrocities,” including the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, and accused Hamas of rejecting reasonable peace offers.
Climate change policies also came under fire. Trump dismissed global climate initiatives as “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world,” criticizing shifting terminology from “global cooling” to “global warming” to “climate change” and disputing UN predictions on temperature rises.
Reflecting on his own administration, Trump highlighted U.S. border policies, claiming that strict enforcement and deportation measures successfully curtailed illegal migration. “Once we started detaining and deporting everyone who crossed the border… they simply stopped coming,” he said.
The speech reinforced Trump’s long-standing critiques of international institutions, portraying them as ineffective and misdirected while emphasizing his own record in foreign policy, border security, and global conflict resolution.
