Union Bank of Nigeria recently hosted an informal meet-and-greet with top journalists and media executives at its headquarters, Stallion Plaza, Marina, Lagos, in a bid to deepen engagement and strengthen ties with the Nigerian media.
The event, held at SpaceNXT—the Bank’s innovation and co-creation hub—offered a relaxed networking platform, allowing open conversations in a convivial setting rather than the formality of traditional press briefings. The initiative underscores Union Bank’s recognition of the media’s pivotal role in shaping public perception and amplifying the Bank’s corporate vision.
Key members of the Bank’s leadership, including Taiwo Shote, Executive Director of Corporate Banking, Lagos and West; Olufunmilola Aluko, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer; and Tosin Ibikunle, Head of Strategy and Planning, were in attendance.
Addressing guests, Mrs. Aluko emphasized the enduring partnership between the Bank and the media, noting, “Union Bank has been around for 108 years, and through all the evolution—from telegram banking to digital wallets—one constant has remained: the media. We wanted to create a space that is unhurried and human, where we can meet without deadlines or formalities.”
Mr. Ibikunle highlighted Union Bank’s commitment to transparency and collaboration, stating, “As we roll out new initiatives, we look forward to partnering with the media to tell our story with clarity, accuracy, and impact.”
The event also included a guided tour of Stallion Plaza and networking sessions, reflecting the Bank’s focus on cultivating long-term relationships beyond official engagements.
Union Bank reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining open dialogue and meaningful partnerships with the media, customers, and stakeholders as it continues to contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
