Aston Villa, Fulham and Burnley are reportedly monitoring Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo as Premier League clubs prepare potential bids for the Mozambique international.
According to reports in Portugal, Sporting have been made aware of concrete interest from England, with the three clubs considering offers in the region of €35 million to €40 million for the 25-year-old.
The trio are understood to have closely followed Catamo’s performances throughout last season, although Burnley’s relegation to the Championship is believed to have weakened their chances of completing a deal.
Sporting are reportedly expecting formal proposals but remain determined to retain the winger. Catamo is under contract until 2029 and has a €60 million release clause after signing a new long-term deal midway through last season.
The Portuguese champions also strengthened their stake in the player by acquiring an additional 65 per cent of his economic rights from Amora in a deal worth €2.25 million at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Having already seen several key players depart, including Morten Hjulmand, Francisco Trincão, Hidemasa Morita and Geovany Quenda, Sporting are keen to avoid further losses. Defenders Ousmane Diomande and Pedro Gonçalves have also been linked with moves away.
Head coach Rui Borges reportedly views Catamo as a vital member of both the squad and dressing room and has made it clear that the winger remains central to the club’s plans.
Catamo enjoyed another productive campaign last season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists to equal his best-ever return of 12 goal contributions. He has also impressed during pre-season, scoring twice in three appearances against Celtic, Strasbourg and Monaco.
Aston Villa and Fulham are believed to be in a stronger position to secure the winger’s signature, with both clubs able to offer Premier League football and meet Sporting’s valuation.
Burnley, meanwhile, face a tougher challenge following their relegation, with Catamo reportedly keen to continue playing at the highest level.
Despite Sporting’s determination to keep the Mozambique international, growing Premier League interest and the prospect of substantial offers could test the Portuguese club’s resolve before the transfer window closes.
