Wema Bank has been recognized as the best workplace for millennials, earning praise for its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation. The lender announced on Thursday that it had received the prestigious “Great Place to Work” certification for 2024-2025, marking the second consecutive year of achieving this honor.
The certification, a globally recognized standard, evaluates an organization’s workplace culture, practices, and employee feedback, highlighting Wema Bank’s focus on employee well-being and positive work environments.
“Wema Bank’s dedication to creating a supportive and engaging workplace has earned it this distinction once again,” the bank said in a statement.
The bank stands out for its industry-leading employee benefits, including one of the longest standard leave periods, cost-of-living adjustments to counter economic challenges, and salary increases for non-full-time employees. It also offers staff access to a standard creche and a fully equipped gym, promoting work-life balance and physical wellness.
Wema Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Moruf Oseni, attributed the recognition to the institution’s strong commitment to employee welfare, particularly millennials, who he described as central to the bank’s success.
“At Wema Bank, we know that our exceptional results are directly tied to the contributions of our employees, especially the millennials driving our growth. We are committed to creating an enriching and rewarding work experience for all,” Oseni said.
In addition to its workplace achievements, Wema Bank recently launched ALATPay, a secure payment gateway designed for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The platform, unveiled in Lagos, provides merchants with instant settlements and a seamless shopping experience for customers via a unique ALATPay link.
