As Nigeria continues its quest for sustainable development, the spotlight turns to youth engagement in a major symposium this Saturday, marking the 60th birthday of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. Themed “Nigeria: Guiding the Youth on the Path of Self-Reliance,” the event will focus on empowering young Nigerians to contribute to the nation’s growth.
Set to take place at Victoria Garden Event, Alausa, Ikeja, the symposium aims to showcase Dr. Hamzat’s dedication to youth development in Lagos while fostering new networks and professional growth among participants.
Dr. Hamzat, a longstanding advocate for youth empowerment, will lead discussions on entrepreneurship, leadership, and opportunities for young Nigerians to achieve self-reliance. His insights, gained through years of public service, will inspire youth to pursue initiatives that can reshape their future.
Opening the discussions will be former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagboun, who will highlight opportunities for youth advancement in Lagos. The event will feature a range of expert panelists, including Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr. Omobolaji Ogunlende; Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Bisola Olusanya; and Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Tubosun Alake.
Accomplished professionals and policymakers will champion policies designed to provide strategic avenues for Nigerian youth to become self-reliant. Other notable panelists include Dr. Rabiu Olowo, CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Dr. Funmi Tella, and Zainab Alayande.
