Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has introduced a new minimum wage package of N80,000 for public civil servants in the state. The announcement was made through a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong.
To facilitate the smooth implementation of this policy, Governor Eno has constituted a committee tasked with developing a comprehensive plan within one month. The committee will be chaired by Effiong Essien, Head of the Civil Service.
Ememobong emphasized that the state government is committed to improving the welfare of its employees, noting that the committee includes heads of various ministries and parastatals. Members include the Chairmen of the State Civil Service Commission and Local Government Service Commission, as well as Permanent Secretaries from key departments such as Finance, Labour, and Justice, among others.
The implementation plan is expected to address the logistics of the wage increase and ensure its effective rollout across the state’s workforce.
