The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has been recognized with the Sun Newspaper Public Service Award for his outstanding leadership and contributions to national development.
The prestigious award ceremony, held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Lagos, was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu; Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; former Kano State Governor and APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje; as well as industry leaders, royal fathers, and senior Customs officials, including Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’, ACG Charles Orbih, and various Area Controllers.
In his acceptance speech, CG Adeniyi described the award as a motivation to further improve service delivery, particularly in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security.
“This recognition is inspiring. It serves as a call to enhance our efforts in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and security. We are committed to doing even more in 2025,” he stated.
Adeniyi also announced plans for a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at impacting communities where Customs officers operate.
“In about two weeks, we will launch CSR programs focused on education, healthcare, and clean water supply. These initiatives align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and President Bola Tinubu’s eight priority areas,” he revealed.
The Customs Chief dedicated the award to all officers and personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to national development.
Dignitaries at the event lauded the recipients, emphasizing the critical role of leadership and dedication in driving Nigeria’s progress.
