Ejiro Amos Tafiri, British Council to Host Lagos Fashion Conference

By Ayomide Otitoju

Fashion brand Ejiro Amos Tafiri has partnered with the British Council Nigeria to host the third edition of its fashion conference, themed “Fashioning a Legacy: Leaving a Mark in Time,” in Lagos on October 24, 2026.

The conference, scheduled to hold at the British Council facility in Ikoyi between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., will bring together fashion designers, creative entrepreneurs, educators, policymakers, investors and institutional leaders to discuss the development of a sustainable and globally competitive African fashion industry.

The event will focus on creativity, education and innovation, with discussions expected to cover workforce development, textile preservation, infrastructure development and the commercialisation of African cultural heritage in international markets.

The initiative is led by Ejiro Amos Tafiri, founder and creative director of the fashion house, who said the conference aims to address structural challenges facing the African fashion industry and create opportunities for collaboration between established professionals and emerging talents.

“True sustainable growth in African fashion requires more than raw creative talent; it demands robust business infrastructure, deliberate mentorship pipelines, and strategic policy frameworks,” Tafiri said.

She added that the partnership with the British Council would provide a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and develop strategies for building a sustainable fashion ecosystem.

Tafiri, whose brand has featured at international fashion events, including Paris Fashion Week and Shanghai Fashion Week through the Africa Reimagined platform, said the conference would help translate global industry insights into practical opportunities for local fashion businesses.

The organisers said the event aligns with the Ejiro Amos Tafiri Foundation’s efforts to reduce inequality in the fashion industry and expand access to professional knowledge.

Attendance is free, but participants are required to register online in advance to facilitate planning and the distribution of post-event resources.
