In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Governor urged Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan and to continuously show love, compassion, and care, particularly to the needy and underprivileged.
Call for Peace and Unity
Governor Sanwo-Olu called on Muslims to remain steadfast in their prayers for peace, growth, and stability in Lagos State and Nigeria. He emphasized the need for spirituality and peaceful co-existence, urging believers not to abandon the values of perseverance, tolerance, and good conduct cultivated during Ramadan.
“Today, I join millions around the world in celebrating Eid-El-Fitr with our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos and across Nigeria. This celebration marks the end of a month-long period of fasting, prayers, and spiritual renewal,” the Governor stated.
Ramadan’s Lasting Impact
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of Ramadan as one of the major pillars of Islam, emphasizing its teachings on self-discipline, devotion, and submission to Allah’s will.
“I urge all of us not to let the blessings of Ramadan fade away. We must reflect these teachings in our words, actions, and relationships with others,” he said.
The Governor further encouraged Muslims to extend their acts of kindness beyond Ramadan, urging them to care for the less privileged as a way of life.
“We should not limit our good deeds to Ramadan alone. Let us continue to support and uplift those around us, particularly the needy and downtrodden,” Sanwo-Olu added.
As Muslims celebrate Eid-El-Fitr, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and social development across Lagos State.
