American rapper and global entertainment icon Snoop Dogg has become a co-owner of Swansea City, the Welsh football club confirmed on Thursday, marking a surprising new chapter in the club’s ownership structure.
The 53-year-old joins former Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric as investors in the Championship side. Modric, who recently signed for AC Milan, acquired a stake earlier this year.
Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus, made headlines last week when he appeared in promotional material wearing Swansea’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season. His official involvement was confirmed on Thursday by the club’s American-led ownership group.
“This club and its story really spoke to me,” Snoop said on the club’s website. “Swansea is a proud, working-class city with an underdog spirit—just like me.”
The move is expected to boost the club’s global profile, with Snoop bringing more than 100 million social media followers into the fold. Swansea’s owners believe the rapper’s star power will help increase revenue, drive merchandise sales, and support squad investment within the constraints of British football’s financial sustainability rules.
“We see this as the next episode for Swansea City,” said a club statement, borrowing from Snoop’s iconic musical catalogue. “His enthusiasm has been genuine throughout, and we’re excited about what his reach and vision can bring.”
The announcement draws parallels with the success of Welsh rivals Wrexham, who rose to the Championship under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
