Woodside Energy has been awarded the International Local Content Champion of the Year at African Energy Week 2025: Invest in African Energies, in recognition of its ongoing commitment to building local capacity, facilitating skills transfer, and empowering communities across Africa. The accolade underscores the company’s efforts to ensure local people and enterprises play a central role in delivering major energy projects.
A key example is the Sangomar offshore development in Senegal, where Woodside partnered with state-owned Petrosen to integrate local suppliers, enhance industrial capacity, and create economic benefits for surrounding communities. Subsea installation of the project’s FPSO vessel was supported from Dakar, while logistical supply services were provided by local businesses.
Beyond project delivery, Woodside runs mentorship programs, skills-building workshops, and ongoing support for local enterprises, equipping professionals with globally competitive skills and fostering lasting industrial capabilities.
