The Delta State Police Command joined the global celebration of the 2025 Customer Service Week with a statewide outreach exercise aimed at strengthening community relations and appreciating residents for their support in combating crime.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, officers of the command distributed souvenirs to Deltans, including road users, market women, parents, and youths, in recognition of their cooperation and partnership in promoting peace and security across the state.
Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, described the gesture as part of a non-kinetic approach to crime fighting, designed to foster mutual trust between the police and the public. He emphasized that the collaboration between the command and residents has been instrumental in achieving notable successes in crime reduction.
“The protection of lives and property remains the core mandate of the Nigeria Police Force. We see the public as partners in this mission — our valued customers in the service of ensuring safety and security,” Abaniwonda stated.
The outreach extended to major towns including Ughelli, Warri, and Sapele, where officers presented gifts, books, and other items to residents as well as primary and secondary school students.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the exercise demonstrates the command’s commitment to community policing and will be sustained as part of ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between the police and the people.
