Fidelity Bank Plc has congratulated Air Peace on the successful launch of its inaugural direct flight from Abuja to London Heathrow, describing the achievement as a bold demonstration of Nigerian excellence and resilience in global aviation.
In a statement issued by the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, OON, following the historic flight, she commended Air Peace for its vision, determination, and contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
“We warmly congratulate Air Peace on the launch of its direct flights between Abuja and London Heathrow. This remarkable achievement marks another significant milestone in Air Peace’s journey and reflects its unwavering commitment to advancing the Nigerian aviation industry,” Onyeali-Ikpe said.
The Fidelity Bank CEO noted that the milestone underscores the strength of indigenous enterprise, adding that the airline’s expansion into the prestigious Heathrow route reflects growing global confidence in Nigeria’s aviation capabilities.
She further highlighted the bank’s long-standing partnership with Air Peace, emphasizing that Fidelity Bank has supported the airline’s growth since inception.
“Our partnership with Air Peace reflects our belief in the potential of Nigerian businesses to compete and thrive globally. We have consistently backed the airline’s ambitions and will continue to do so as it opens new routes,” she added.
Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe also commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his continued support of local airlines, noting that the government’s enabling policies are fostering tangible progress in the sector.
Air Peace’s new Abuja–London Heathrow route marks its second direct flight service to the United Kingdom, following the successful launch of the Lagos–London route earlier in the year. The development is expected to enhance connectivity, reduce travel costs, and strengthen Nigeria’s presence in international aviation.
