Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday performed his electronic registration in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged party members in the state to actively participate in the ongoing exercise.
Sanwo-Olu described the APC e-registration, which is being conducted nationwide, as a civic responsibility and a prerequisite for genuine party membership in Lagos State. He also encouraged young people to take advantage of the exercise, noting that it is open, free, and simple to complete.
The governor spoke after registering at Ward 3, St. Stephen’s Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island. He said the exercise, which runs throughout January, is designed to enable both existing and new APC members to formally validate their membership through a digital platform.
According to him, the e-registration is being carried out simultaneously across the 245 wards in Lagos State and other parts of the country to digitally capture party members’ details.
Sanwo-Olu explained that the process requires members to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) for verification, after which their personal information is confirmed and a photograph taken. He added that successful registrants are issued a printed temporary membership slip upon completion.
“The APC e-registration exercise is what will validate and confirm that you are a card-carrying member of our party. Every party member who truly wants to be called a member of the APC should take it seriously,” he said, adding that the process requires no payment.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise at his ward, noting that initial technical challenges recorded on the first day had been resolved and that the registration was progressing smoothly.
He disclosed that each of the 245 wards in Lagos State has been equipped with two tablets, a printer, internet access, and a backup power supply to ensure seamless registration.
Sanwo-Olu urged party members to create time to participate in the exercise, which he said takes between five and ten minutes to complete. He added that the digital approach reflects the APC’s commitment to modernisation and transparency, while strengthening its membership database ahead of future political engagements.
