Seplat Energy Plc has announced that its 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH gas project has reached first gas, following completion of the 11km Indorama gas export pipeline and regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said that gas supply to Indorama Petrochemical Plant began on Friday, 16 January 2026, under firm and interruptible offtake Gas Sales Agreements (GSAs). Four upstream wells, on standby since November 2025, were brought online to enable gas flow.
“Since first gas, wet gas production has been stabilising, delivering 40–52 MMscfd of processed gas directly to Indorama,” the statement said. Condensate production has reached 2.0–2.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd) and is expected to rise as the plant ramps up toward its 300 MMscfd design capacity.
Preparations are also underway to supply processed gas to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) under an interruptible offtake agreement, supporting further production growth. Construction of the OB3 pipeline export route by Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), initially intended as the primary channel for domestic gas supply, has resumed with a revised completion date to be announced.
Developed by ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), a joint venture between Seplat and NGIC, the integrated plant features two 150 MMscfd processing units, LPG recovery, condensate stabilisation, a 16MW power plant, and other supporting facilities, all designed to operate with zero routine flaring. The ANOH project taps into an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) condensate-rich gas resource across OML 53 and OML 21, with Seplat’s 2P reserves at 0.8 Tcf as of 2024 year-end.
Seplat will benefit from two revenue streams: wet gas sales from OML 53 and dividends from its 50% equity in AGPC. LPG output from ANOH, combined with production from Sapele and the Bonny River Terminal, positions Seplat as a leading supplier of clean cooking fuel in Nigeria. The project will also process flared gas from the Ohaji field, supporting Seplat’s onshore End of Routine Flaring programme, a key sustainability initiative.
The company highlighted that the ANOH plant was completed without a single Lost Time Incident across 17.5 million man-hours, reflecting strong operational safety standards.
Roger Brown, Seplat Energy CEO, described the milestone as a major achievement: “ANOH is the first of seven critical gas projects identified by the Federal Government to commence operations. It represents a strategic project for Seplat, our partner NGIC, and Nigeria. Completing this project in a region with limited onshore pipeline infrastructure required significant commitment, and we are extremely proud.”
Brown added that ANOH will expand Seplat’s onshore gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd, support the company’s 2030 production target of 200 kboepd, provide energy access through power and clean cooking fuel, reduce carbon intensity, and contribute to economic prosperity in Nigeria.
