The father of Afrobeats star Davido, Adedeji Adeleke, has threatened legal action against social media personality Kemi Olunloyo over alleged impersonation, misinformation and sustained defamation linked to a long-running paternity dispute involving a minor.
Adeleke spoke at a press briefing on Wednesday amid renewed public debate over claims that Davido fathered a 12-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo. Asked whether the family would pursue legal action, the billionaire businessman said the matter had escalated beyond acceptable limits.
He described Olunloyo’s publication of what she claimed to be a DNA test result as misleading and dangerous, adding that the family was considering a lawsuit over what he termed defamatory conduct.
“For publishing this, we are going to consider suing her,” Adeleke said.
He further accused Olunloyo of impersonating the minor and her mother on social media to sustain the paternity claims and attack his son. According to him, the child’s aunt confirmed that the family had severed ties with Olunloyo and that she was responsible for operating the online accounts attributed to Anu.
“She has been lying and lying, using an account that does not belong to her, impersonating a child and the child’s mother,” he said.
Adeleke also dismissed claims by Olunloyo that she had a personal relationship with his late wife, describing the assertion as false.
Addressing the paternity issue, Adeleke said the DNA tests conducted were not to satisfy public opinion but to give him personal clarity as a father.
“The test I asked David to do was not because of the public. I did it for myself. This is science,” he said, adding that repeated testing would not alter the outcome.
He maintained that several DNA tests carried out over the years consistently showed that Davido is not the biological father of the child. He noted that the same accredited laboratory that conducted DNA tests for Davido’s acknowledged children, including Imade and his late son Ifeanyi, also handled the disputed tests.
“The same lab did Imade’s DNA. The same lab did Ifeanyi’s DNA. If you compare the profiles, they are clear,” he said.
Adeleke stressed that the family had no reason to deny a child, pointing out that he already has 14 grandchildren.
“What is one more? Is it that I cannot afford to take care of her? But there is science, and science is clear,” he said.
He disclosed that despite the DNA results, he had privately supported the child and her family over the years, including paying school fees, providing upkeep funds and offering the child’s mother admission into Adeleke University with a monthly stipend.
“If I can pay the girl’s school fees and send her money, knowing fully well she is not my grandchild, without telling anybody, I would have been glad if she was my granddaughter so I could spoil her like the others,” he said, adding that Davido was unaware of this support.
The controversy resurfaced in early January after an Instagram account bearing Anuoluwapo’s name appealed for a fresh DNA test, citing years of bullying and emotional distress. Davido responded on X, stating that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted, all of which showed he was not the child’s father.
However, the child’s mother disputed this, claiming only one test was carried out in 2014 and alleging it was flawed. She called for a new, independently monitored DNA test, a position also echoed by Olunloyo, who shared what she described as the 2014 DNA result.
Davido has continued to reject the claims, insisting that all DNA evidence confirms he is not the child’s biological father and dismissing arguments based on physical resemblance.
