Verdant IMAP has announced that it advised Polysmart Packaging Group on the successful close of a $5 million strategic equity investment from an Africa-focused private equity investor.
The transaction provides growth capital to optimise operations, improve production efficiency, and support Polysmart’s expansion into one of Nigeria’s most advanced recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) processing platforms. The investment is expected to further position the company as a globally competitive circular economy player serving both domestic and international markets.
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Ogun State, Polysmart has built a rapidly expanding recycling and manufacturing platform through partnerships spanning waste collection, sorting, aggregation, and the production of high-quality recycled plastic resins and flakes. The company operates a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced European processing technology and adheres to international quality and environmental standards.
Polysmart is among Nigeria’s largest suppliers of recycled plastic resins and a key producer of food-grade rPET pellets for local and export markets. Its client portfolio includes leading global beverage, bottling, and manufacturing companies, reflecting its operational reliability and compliance with international sustainability requirements.
According to Persistence Market Research, the global rPET market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8.9 per cent through 2032, driven by stricter environmental regulations, mandatory recycled content targets in developed markets, and increasing corporate sustainability commitments. Rising demand for diversified and traceable supply chains is expected to further support scalable producers with consistent quality standards.
Operating at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and environmental sustainability, Polysmart continues to strengthen partnerships across the waste collection value chain, converting plastic waste into high-quality resins and flakes. Its integrated model enhances traceability, product consistency, and supply reliability—key competitive advantages in international rPET markets.
The equity investment marks a significant milestone in Polysmart’s institutional growth strategy. Verdant IMAP acted as exclusive financial adviser on the transaction, reinforcing its focus on supporting climate-aligned industrial businesses across Africa.
