JMG Limited has intensified its push for sustainable engineering and solar adoption with an Engineering Walk held in Lagos, aimed at promoting inclusive and environmentally responsible energy solutions.
The initiative, organised to mark World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, began at the company’s head office in Victoria Island and drew participation from engineering students of the University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology, alongside members of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
The event underscored growing collaboration among stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable, practical and accessible engineering solutions across Nigeria.
Speaking during the walk, JMG’s Chief Commercial Officer, Rabi Jammal, said the initiative reflects the company’s broader vision of embedding sustainability into engineering systems. He noted that while solar energy is a key component, the larger objective is to design efficient, reliable and durable systems capable of sustainably powering homes and industries.
Amid rising energy costs and persistent power supply challenges, JMG continues to advocate engineering-driven solutions that reduce reliance on costly and environmentally harmful energy sources. The company emphasised that integrating solar into broader engineering frameworks enhances efficiency and long-term sustainability across residential, commercial and industrial applications.
JMG’s operations span power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems and air compressors, reflecting a holistic approach focused on energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
The company also highlighted its commitment to practical implementation, noting that its headquarters is powered by solar energy as part of an integrated engineering system, demonstrating the viability of sustainable solutions in real-world settings.
Plant Manager, Fouad El Chami, said sustainable engineering requires continuous innovation in energy use and technology integration. He stressed that solar energy plays a vital role in reducing consumption and supporting cleaner environments, while also enabling cost-effective solutions tailored to current energy realities.
He added that as concerns over energy reliability, cost and environmental impact intensify, integrated engineering solutions supported by cleaner energy sources will be critical to building a resilient future for both households and businesses.
Participants in the walk echoed the need for a unified approach to energy development, emphasising that Nigeria’s future lies in combining engineering innovation, sustainability and accessibility to drive long-term growth.
