The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed ongoing efforts to secure the release of a woman abducted in front of her residence in the Bolumole area of Challenge, Ibadan.
In a statement on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday when armed, masked men abducted Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe at the gate of her home.
Ayanlade said preliminary investigations showed the victim was trailed to her residence and not attacked on the road as earlier reported.
According to him, the assailants—four armed men in masks—forced her into an unregistered black Lexus vehicle shortly after she arrived home, while a family member present at the scene was left unharmed.
He added that the report was immediately escalated to tactical units, with detectives deployed to the scene for on-the-spot assessment and forensic examination.
“The scene of crime has been forensically examined, and critical evidence recovered is aiding ongoing investigation,” the police spokesman said.
The command said surveillance and intelligence operations have been intensified to track down the suspects and ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
It assured residents that all necessary resources have been deployed to secure her release and apprehend those responsible, while urging the public to remain calm and provide credible information that could assist investigations.
