The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has been honoured with a Public Sector Reform Award by Aljazirah Media in recognition of his leadership and reform efforts within the Service.
The award was presented during a visit by an Aljazirah Media delegation to the NCS headquarters on April 6, 2026. The delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Etuk Bassey, included representatives from Nigeria, London, and other international locations.
Presenting the award, Bassey said the recognition followed extensive local and international assessments of Adeniyi’s performance in public service. He credited the Customs chief with driving reforms in revenue generation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation within the agency.
Bassey noted that the organisation’s findings revealed a record of discipline, transparency, and measurable impact under Adeniyi’s leadership, adding that the award seeks to recognise integrity and reform-driven governance in public service.
In his response, Adeniyi expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to further strengthen transparency, professionalism, and accountability within the Service.
He added that the honour reflects the collective efforts of officers and personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, reaffirming their commitment to delivering on the agency’s mandate and enhancing public trust.
