Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been inducted as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), in recognition of his engagement with Nigeria’s capital market and investment ecosystem.
The induction ceremony took place on Tuesday at Lagos House, Marina, and was attended by members of CIS, top government officials, and members of the Lagos State Executive Council.
With the induction, Sanwo-Olu is now entitled to use the professional designation “ACS,” signifying Associate Chartered Stockbroker status.
Speaking at the event, the governor described the recognition as both a personal honour and a reflection of growing collaboration between the Lagos State Government and Nigeria’s capital market community. He noted that the CIS plays a key role in regulating and strengthening professionalism within the investment and securities sector.
Sanwo-Olu also highlighted his administration’s economic reforms, stating that Lagos has improved significantly in ease of doing business rankings, rising from 27th position in previous years to first place nationally.
He commended CIS leadership for its commitment to professionalism and urged the institute to continue expanding market participation and maintaining high ethical standards.
CIS President and Chairman of Council, Oduropo Dada, said the governor’s induction followed his successful completion of the institute’s rigorous professional requirements, describing him as a leader who has demonstrated discipline, competence, and ethical integrity.
Dada added that Sanwo-Olu’s achievement reflects the institute’s standards of excellence and reinforces confidence in the professionalism of Nigeria’s capital market practitioners.
