FCMB Names Adepeju Adebajo Independent Director

FCMB Group Plc has appointed former Lafarge Africa Chief Executive Officer, Adepeju Adebajo, as an Independent Non-Executive Director on its Board.

The appointment was disclosed in a filing to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Friday, following approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to the Group, the appointment is aimed at strengthening its Board and advancing its transformation and growth agenda across its operations.

FCMB Group said Adebajo brings over 30 years of cross-sector experience spanning industry, renewable energy, agriculture, finance, and consulting, with a track record of working across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

It added that her leadership experience is expected to enhance governance and strategic execution within the organisation.

Adebajo holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.

She currently serves as Chair of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and Transformation Lead at Etex Group, which includes Nigerite and Emenite Limited.

Her previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Africa Plc’s cement business, as well as CEO positions at Mouka Limited, Lumos Nigeria, and UTC Nigeria Plc. She also served earlier in her career as Assistant General Manager at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc.

In 2025, she founded the Climate Governance Initiative Nigeria, affiliated with the World Economic Forum, and is also a member of the World Economic Forum Council on Climate and Nature Governance for the 2025–2027 term.
