Seyi Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition

By Ayomide Otitoju

Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, signalling a new development in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Makinde made the declaration during a unity rally jointly organised by the Peoples Democratic Party and the All People’s Movement to formalise an alliance between the two political parties.

The Oyo State governor called on opposition leaders across the country to unite against what he described as attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

According to him, the country can no longer be regarded as operating a true democracy without a political environment that guarantees a level playing field for opposition parties free from interference by the ruling party.

Makinde also urged Nigerians not to remain political spectators ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that active participation by eligible voters would help reset the nation’s political direction.

He expressed confidence that greater unity among opposition parties and increased civic participation would shape the outcome of the next presidential election.

More details later.
