By Ayomide Otitoju

FirstBank has opened applications for its 2026 Pan-African Graduate Trainee Programme, inviting young graduates across Africa to apply for an initiative aimed at developing the next generation of banking and finance leaders.

The programme is designed to attract, develop and retain exceptional graduates who will contribute to the bank’s long-term growth and transformation agenda. Through structured training, mentorship and practical work experience, participants will gain the skills and industry exposure required to build successful careers in the financial services sector.

According to FirstBank, the programme focuses on equipping young professionals with hands-on experience across various departments, preparing them for future leadership roles within the organisation and the broader banking industry.

The initiative forms part of the bank’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce and strengthening its talent pipeline across Africa.

The 2026 Pan-African Graduate Trainee Programme will be implemented in seven African countries, including Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Senegal, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. Applicants are expected to apply in the country where they intend to work.

FirstBank said participants will benefit from industry-focused learning opportunities, mentorship programmes and leadership development initiatives, while contributing to innovations shaping the future of African banking.

Interested candidates can submit their applications through FirstBank’s careers portal. Applications are currently open and will close on June 26, 2026.

The bank encouraged ambitious graduates with a passion for innovation and a desire to shape the future of banking to take advantage of the opportunity.
