Chelsea Eye £55m Move for Palace’s Lacroix

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, with the Premier League club expected to pay £55 million if they want to secure the French centre-back this summer.

According to reports, Crystal Palace have placed a £55 million valuation on Lacroix, who is said to be keen on leaving Selhurst Park during the current transfer window.

The 25-year-old is viewed as a defender who fits Chelsea’s recruitment strategy, with his pace, athleticism and ability to play in a high defensive line making him an attractive option as the Blues look to strengthen their backline.

Chelsea are believed to be prioritising defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season after inconsistent performances at the back in recent campaigns.

However, the reported £55 million asking price represents a significant investment, and the club will need to decide whether Lacroix is the right long-term solution to justify the fee.

While Lacroix’s reported desire to leave Palace could accelerate negotiations, the South London club are understood to be in a strong position to negotiate, with no indication they are willing to lower their valuation.

Chelsea are expected to weigh up their options before deciding whether to meet Palace’s demands or pursue alternative defensive targets before the transfer window closes.
