Chelsea Complete £52m Lacroix Signing

Chelsea have officially completed the signing of France international defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace in a deal reportedly worth around £52 million.

The 26-year-old centre-back has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032, becoming one of the club’s latest major additions ahead of the 2026/27 season under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Lacroix expressed his excitement after joining Chelsea, saying he shares Alonso’s ambition of winning trophies and believes the club has the quality and resources to compete at the highest level.

“I am really happy to be part of this beautiful club,” Lacroix said. “When I spoke with the manager, I saw that we have the same direction and desire for this club. We want to win.”

The defender arrives in west London after two successful seasons at Crystal Palace, where he made 98 appearances and played a key role in the club’s historic achievements, including winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.

His performances at Selhurst Park earned him a senior debut for France, followed by inclusion in the national team’s World Cup squad, where he made three appearances as Les Bleus finished fourth.

Lacroix will join Chelsea’s squad immediately as Alonso continues preparations for the new campaign, with the defender expected to strengthen the club’s backline as the Blues aim to compete for major honours.
