Access Bank has advanced its commitment to inclusive growth through a rural health outreach in Ikotun, Lagos, under its “One Bank, One Continent – Together for Health” campaign. The initiative forms part of the Bank’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy aimed at enhancing quality of life and driving sustainable impact across Africa.
The outreach, held recently, provided free medical services and essential relief materials to over 300 residents of Ikotun. Beneficiaries received general health screenings, medical consultations, and vital wellness supplies designed to address both immediate health concerns and promote long-term wellbeing within the community.
Speaking on the initiative’s impact, Esther Graham, Programme Lead, Health at Access Holdings, reaffirmed the Bank’s dedication to advancing healthcare accessibility.
“At Access Bank, we believe access to quality healthcare is a basic human right. Through the ‘One Bank, One Continent – Together for Health’ campaign, we are going beyond business to create real impact. This initiative not only meets urgent health needs but also strengthens our commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities across Africa,” she said.
The programme fostered collaboration between healthcare professionals, volunteers, and Access Bank staff, who worked jointly to deliver care and support to residents. The event was marked by appreciation and community spirit, as many participants described the outreach as transformative.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Adeola Akinyemi, expressed gratitude for the intervention.
“This programme has brought hope to families in Ikotun. Many of us rarely have access to proper medical services, and today Access Bank has shown that big organisations can truly care for the communities they serve. We are deeply grateful,” she said.
The outreach underscores Access Bank’s purpose-driven approach to business, balancing profitability with social impact. Beyond healthcare, the Bank continues to invest in initiatives that promote education, financial inclusion, and environmental sustainability, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for Africa’s long-term development.
