The Dangote Industries Limited has reiterated its dedication to driving socio-economic development in Nigeria through sustained investments in education, healthcare, and other critical sectors.
Alhaji Hashem Ahmed, General Manager and Federal Government Liaison Officer of the company, made this known on Sunday during the Dangote Special Day at the ongoing 20th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF). The fair, themed “Sustainability: Consumption, Incentives, and Taxation,” is organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
Ahmed noted that the Dangote Group remains firmly committed to strengthening its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) foundations.
“We will continue to invest in education through scholarship schemes that benefit hundreds of students annually, while also building schools, equipping health centres, and rolling out alternative fuel projects to reduce our carbon footprint,” Ahmed stated.
Highlighting the company’s community impact, he said the Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana, Kogi State, has implemented several transformative initiatives, including training and empowering 46 solar entrepreneurs to deliver affordable and clean energy solutions to local communities.
Ahmed described the trade fair as an essential platform for business networking, innovation, and economic dialogue. He added that Dangote Industries had undertaken numerous social initiatives, including tree planting campaigns, clean water projects, expanded healthcare services, and youth empowerment through vocational training.
Commending the ACCI for fostering a business-friendly environment, Ahmed said Dangote’s collaboration with the chamber goes beyond sponsorship, describing it as “a strategic partnership rooted in a shared vision of a prosperous, industrialised, and globally competitive Nigeria.”
He also appreciated Dangote’s business partners and distributors for their continued loyalty and contribution to the company’s growth.
“Your dedication ensures that our products reach millions of households, construction sites, and industries daily. You are not just distributors but ambassadors of our vision for a stronger Nigeria,” he said.
Ahmed further urged Nigerians to embrace responsible consumption and support local industries to promote sustainability and national wealth creation.
“By choosing local, we strengthen local industries and build a more inclusive and globally competitive economy,” he added.
In his remarks, Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the ACCI, commended the Dangote Group for its longstanding partnership and active participation in the chamber’s initiatives.
“As a member of our chamber, the Dangote Group has consistently contributed to the growth and visibility of the Abuja International Trade Fair,” Obegolu said.
